            SUB:   User Template for OID-SSO for CBEC for ACES – ICES

CBEC presently has distributed application environments at different CBEC locations and each location have their own users id created and no consistency is being maintained at different locations.

With the move towards a centralized application environment at the CBEC Data center, it is planned to have a SINGLE SIGN ON (SSO) provisioning solution for departmental officers. This would enable the them to have access to all the applications, to which they are authorized, with a single login-id.

SINGLE SIGN ON (SSO):

Single Sign On, as the name suggests, provide for a unique User ID for all its users, which would be stored in the centralized Oracle Internet Directory (OID).

The Single Sign On (SSO) Provisioning solutions for CBEC would be implemented for the below mentioned applications:

1.      ICES

2.      ACES

3.      DW

4.      RMS

5.       ICEGATE

6.       E-mail

7.       Intranet (proposed)

For this purpose, as a first step, a user template has been designed to gather inputs for all the CBEC users of ACES/ICES, their designation, location and application being used by them.. The collected data will be used to create unique user login ids for CBEC users on the Central OID.

The user template is to be filled by respective Chief Commissioners/Commissioners for the CBEC users (officers) under their jurisdiction (one user template containing details of the entire commissionerate) and should reach this office within 20 days of receipt of this letter.

The user template can be downloaded from CBEC’s websites www.cbec.gov.in or www.icegate.gov.in  and need to be forwarded (soft copy) either to ruchin.gupta@icegate.gov.in or to venkatesh.narayan@icegate.gov.in .

A  print-out of the said template, duly filled and signed by an officer not less than the rank of Commissioner should also be forwarded to this office.

A copy of this user template is enclosed herewith for ready reference.

The detailed instructions for filling these worksheets are also enclosed herewith.

We request you to ensure completeness and correctness of the data, so that NO CBEC user is left without a unique log in ID and recognition in the CBEC centralized Service Desk.

The output of this questionnaire would be kept strictly confidential and would be solely used for the purpose stated above. This is not linked to performance assessment of any personnel, department or service provider.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR FILLING THE WORKSHEETS FOR OID-SSO

1. It is requested to ensure completeness and correctness of the data, so that NO CBEC user is left without a unique login-id.

2. Please DO NOT fill column 2 “Unique ID”. It will be generated by the system automatically.

3. There is a drop-down available with most of the columns, like Gender (Mr/Mrs.), Department (Central Excise/Customs….), Formations((ICDs/CFSs/LCSs……) etc. It means the values for such columns are already there in a list and the users are to pick-up the suitable value from it, while entering the data in the respective columns.

4. While filling the “First Name” in Column 4, the users are strictly advised NOT TO use abbreviated names, full-stops, comas or any other special characters. The first name has to a one single word, as the Unique-ID is dependent on this first name.

5. There are “Location Name” and “System Manager/Location In-charge Name” fields available on the upper left of the template sheet. Please fill the same too.
